    The Last Day

This is my last day of travel. It’s kind of bitter sweet. I ate breakfast and I checked out of my hostel and with everything all packed up in the car I spent the morning in Reykjavik doing a little last minute exploring. Because it was fairly early in the morning not much was open but I made my way towards Hallrímskirkja, the church you can see on the postcards in every store. It’s a beautiful church and so much different than all of the gothic cathedrals I’ve been in so far.

    Canyons and Plane Crashes

The drizzle cleared up when I left Skaftafell in the morning making my way back the way I had come. As it turns out Houdini Waterfall is actually called Foos A Sio, but I like Houdini better. I made a pit stop at Stjórnarfoss Waterfall where I met a ram that didn’t like guests near his pasture. He puffed himself up at me and I gave him his space. For lunch I stopped back in Vik but didn’t spend any more time because there were a few more stops on my list. First it was into Fj

    Glaciers and Waterfalls

After enjoying the sunshine through the window for breakfast I headed out under some blue sky to take a few pictures of the little town of Vik. It’s vastly more beautiful in the sunlight than the rain if I’m honest. Then I hit the road towards Skaftafell. My first distraction was an isolated plateau/mountain called Hjorleifshofoi, I just mumble it and move on. Mostly I stopped because the lighting was fantastic and I knew it wouldn’t be that way on my return journey, that and

    The Ring Road

You know your language is hard when google can’t translate it. Icelandic is the strangest language and super hard and I wouldn’t even attempt to pronounce any of it, ever, for any reason. It’s a good thing most of the people know English really well. To add to the car troubles I’ve already had, my service light AND tire pressure lights were on so I called the rental company and they had me exchange it at the local office, free of charge this time. Which was good because I was

    I Hate Travel Days

I hated to leave Honfleur, it was even more beautiful in the morning than it was in the evening and after getting up at 6 to be on the road by 7, I took 5 minutes to snag a few last pictures of this town. I was going to stop somewhere for breakfast later since nothing was open around me. Then I was on my way and I got to enjoy driving through the French country side with the morning mist during sunrise. It was practically a fairy tale but I don’t picture and drive so you don’

    Honfleur in Normandie

I rented a car, and I drove it, through France. It wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be! I was heading for Honfleur in Normandie and I made a detour through Pond Audemer for lunch and it was a cute town, but it had nothing on Honfleur! It’s a super cute, old looking town and it’s what you imagine France looked like way back when. And, because cruise ships stop there, it’s got tons, tons of specialty boutiques. Chocolatiers, patisseries, boulangeries, crafts, arts, all of

    The City of Lights

Three Paris posts now and I know you’re wondering, when am I going to the Louvre? Today, this morning, I got there half an hour before opening because I didn’t have my ticket in advance like I should have but even those lines with tickets were getting kind of long. Now, like most people, I went straight for Mona. Everyone wants a selfie with her smile and I got one too. Be nice now, I’m not a selfie girl and so I suck at them. Once I got that out of the way I circled back and

    Just Some Tours

I got on a boat. I know! I hate boats, I get sea sick, even my mom was surprised! Why? Because I met a new friend J and there was a boat cruise we decided it was a good way to spend the morning. Also it was only an hour long and it was on a canal and I didn’t get sick, I didn’t even feel woozy. Go me! On the other hand, I was not paying enough attention and so for the first time my pictures aren’t overly spectacular. A lot of them were over exposed and so they’re pretty brigh

    I Started at Notre Dame

Notre Dame is every bit as impressive as you would think it is. I got there right before 10 and made my way inside and despite the signs saying no flash, flashes were everywhere. Respect the signs people, they’re there for a reason. Anyway, I took a lap around the cathedral and even paid my way into the treasury. €5 is one of the cheapest entry fees I've found so I had no trouble paying that much. After exploring the inside I headed around to climb all the way up the towers.

Just a Little Bit of Paris

I find pacing myself kind of hard to do but I think I did alright for one day! I started the morning in Monmartre, where I went to Sacré-Cœur on the very top of the hill. Now of course there are stairs and of course I climbed them, there’s also a cable car… go figure. But if I can do the Incline then these little steps can’t beat me! Anyway, this church is stunning! Absolutely beautiful and the view is nothing to sneeze at either. Now, I only took one photo of the inside, not
