Foodie Day

Something strange seems to be happening guys, I didn’t take any pictures today. My camera either stayed in my bag or stayed in my room. I’m not sure if I’m just tired or burned out but this is weird to me. And it’s not as if I stayed in my room all day either. I spent the morning catching up on a bit of editing and blogging and I went out and got myself some lunch and explored just a bit more. Then I headed in for a nap because apparently staying up until midnight talking with new friends makes you tired when your alarm goes off at 8… who knew?

Shortly after I woke up a new roommate arrived and we got to chatting, she’s from New Zealand! So I’m going to call her Kiwi here. She and I sat chatting in our room for a while before heading out, she was looking for “Belgium noses” and was good enough to follow me through 2 markets because I saw them somewhere! These “noses” are essentially little flavored syrup filled gummy type things, and while they weren’t really my cup of tea, they did taste pretty good. After that Kiwi was still just as patient as I found myself a little cooler bag and icepacks and then we headed to a chocolate shop because I’m making the attempt to bring home some chocolate for my family. We’re going to have to see if it makes it that far, I might just eat it myself and be happy but who knows.

And with my camera still hidden away in my room we explored for our dinner and then headed back to the hostel to eat where we met up with some of the boys I mentioned before. The lot of us just chatted away into the night and wouldn’t you know it by the time they were ready to head out into the town it was past 11. I didn’t go, I was leaving for Amsterdam in the morning and knew I wasn’t going to be able to drag my lazy butt out of bed without at least a few hours of sleep. But I’m not much for the night life anyway.

That being said, I have to share something! So in case you haven’t been following my Instagram, that’s where I share all of my food pictures!! I know, classy right? But the longer I’m on the road the more I feel like trying new foods. I’ve never been very adventurous in my eating habits and so there are definitely some things that I haven’t tried, like Haggis… but it’s a work in progress and there are definitely some things that I’ve enjoyed, mostly pastries.
